Research Engineer – Aerospace Control and Modeling
Barron Associates performs cutting-edge research in signal processing, communications, control systems, and related fields, producing novel solutions to real-world problems related to a variety of applications. Recent and ongoing work includes development and demonstration of:
- virtual sensor technology to mitigate failures onboard aircraft,
- coordinated control methods for UAV swarms,
- upset recovery technology for fixed-wing aircraft,
- UAV-based atmospheric sensing systems,
- turbulence recognition and hazard mitigation systems for autonomous air vehicles, and
- development of effective communication devices for individuals with severe physical impairments.
We are seeking highly motivated engineers, scientists, and mathematicians with a passion for knowledge and the skills to turn concepts into reality. The ideal candidate will have a research background in one or more of the following areas:
- machine learning (especially graph neural networks),
- adaptive control,
- trajectory optimization,
- detection and estimation theory,
- air vehicle modeling and simulation.
Experience with aerospace or biomedical applications is desirable, as is an interest in identifying emerging technology needs and developing new research concepts to address these needs. Initial tasks are expected to focus on aerospace applications of control systems and modeling and simulation, but we seek candidates who enjoy the challenge of working with a wide range of technologies and in diverse application areas.
Applicants should at a minimum hold a B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, and an M.S. or Ph.D. is desirable. All levels of work experience will be considered. For candidates with significant work history, demonstrated ability to initiate and lead research efforts is expected.
Barron Associates is a highly dynamic environment, providing contract R&D services to a wide range of government and industry partners.
Candidates must be capable of obtaining a U.S. Government security clearance.
