Barron Associates to Develop Telehealth System for Pediatric Upper Extremity Therapy

Barron Associates, Inc. has been awarded an NIH Phase II Small Business Innovative Research grant to develop a computer gaming system for evidence-based home exercise for pediatric hemiplegia with telehealth guidance and remote monitoring. The Motivating Occupational Virtual Experiences In Therapy for kids (MOVE-IT) effort will produce a commercial system that includes therapy software and a custom smart toy supporting both gross and fine motor practice involving skill-targeted mini-games. Safety and efficacy of a remotely-supervised MOVE-IT home exercise program compared to usual care treatment will be assessed in a rater-blinded randomized, controlled trial (RCT) involving children with hemiplegia.
